Meet the Team: Tom Holland
The Recycle 1 “Meet the Team” is a series of articles that allow our clients and partners to get to know the team behind the brand. Tom is one of the newest members to Recycle 1’s, tight-knit family. He came on board this year as our Senior Destruction and Recycling Specialist.
How did you get into this industry?
I’m new to Recycle 1 but I’ve been in the industry for 15 years. I got into Recycle 1 because I knew a few people who worked here. I was previously at a recycling company that was sold, but I knew I was not ready to leave the industry; I wanted to keep working.
How would you describe yourself?
I’m a total people person. I like developing relationships with customers and I just like helping people out. It’s that simple.
What’s a typical day like for you?
A typical day is spent closing new business for the product destruction and paper destruction business. Mostly product destruction. Some people know we exist and others need to be educated. They want to protect their proprietary products, and that’s where we can really deliver value. I go through lots of phone conversations and some occasional site visits.
What’s your biggest challenge?
My biggest challenge: convincing the client that they need to dispose of these items in an environmentally-friendly manner. Once we destroy the products, we’ll recycle it too. We make sure it’s disposed of properly.
Tell us something that people don’t know about you.
I enjoy golf and snow skiing. And I love to travel, within Arizona and out of state. In the fall and winter and spring, you can find me on the golf course. My favorite place to travel to is San Diego, I’ve been going there since I was a kid.
